I\"\"<\/a>n October of 1961, Keener’s predecessor, WKMH was playing, Del Shannon<\/a>‘s “Runaway<\/a>” and “Blue Moon<\/a>” by The Marcels<\/a>. West Side Story<\/a> was premiering in New York. And\u00a0Chico Marx<\/a>, the oldest of the\u00a0Marx Brothers<\/a>, died at age 74.<\/p>\n

Across the pond on October 19, “The Beatmakers<\/a>“, a Supergroup combination of The Beatles and Gerry and The Pacemakers, performed at the Litherland<\/a> Town Hall in England. The line-up included\u00a0Gerry Marsden<\/a>,\u00a0George Harrison<\/a>,\u00a0Paul McCartney<\/a>,\u00a0John Lennon<\/a>,\u00a0Les Maguire<\/a>,\u00a0Pete Best<\/a>, Freddy Marsden<\/a>, plus vocalist Karl Terry<\/a> from The Cruisers with Les Chadwick<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0bass guitar<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>Both bands were managed by Brian Epstein<\/a> & had yet to have hit records. At left is a later shot of the two bands with Roy Orbison<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Beatmakers show is one of the most sought after Beatles bootlegs<\/a>. No recordings have yet to emerge from that night.<\/p>\n
