He played with The Mamas and Papas, The Fifth Dimension and The Carpenters, and David Gates and Bread.<\/p>\n<p>His barrel-house piano kick-started &#8220;R<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UvJ78hYI6wk\"><strong>ockin&#8217; Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu<\/strong><\/a>&#8221; for Johnny Rivers<\/p>\n<p>He was an extraordinary keyboard player, who happened to play guitar so well, that he supplied the bass tracks for The Doors&#8217; &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=deB_u-to-IE\"><strong>Light My Fire<\/strong><\/a>&#8220;!<\/p>\n<p>His name was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.larryknechtel.com\/\"><strong>Larry Knechtel<\/strong><\/a>, and today would have been his 76th birthday.
