The songs are their signature. “Baby Love”, \u00a0“Stop! In The Name Of Love”, “Baby, I Need Your Loving”, “Reach Out, I’ll Be There”, “Heatwave”, “Come And Get These Memories”, “Can I Get A Witness”, “This Old Heart Of Mine”, “Take Me In Your Arms (Rock Me A Little While)”, “(I’m A) Road Runner”.<\/p>\n

There, \u00a0I just did a Keener Top Ten\u00a0without breaking a sweat! Or going past 1966<\/a><\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Brian, Lamont and Eddie<\/strong><\/a> were Motown’s greatest songwriting team. Except, of course, for Smokey Robinson<\/a><\/strong>, Norman Whitfiel<\/a><\/strong>d and Barrett Strong<\/a><\/strong>, The Corporation<\/a>, Marvin Gaye<\/a><\/strong>, Stevie Wonder<\/a><\/strong> and others.<\/strong>\u00a0Hard to say who’s the greatest. It’s like all these years later, Berry Gordy’s<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0“who’s hot?<\/a><\/strong>”\u00a0competitions still play out.<\/p>\n

Today is Eddie Holland’s<\/a><\/strong> birthday, which was gonna make\u00a0an obvious, but difficult choice for the\u00a0Friday Song. Until I discovered that\u00a0one of\u00a0H-D-H’s first hits was written for Smokey Robinson and the Miracles<\/a><\/strong>! Top Ten in 1963, it’s “Mickey’s Monkey<\/a><\/strong>”\u00a0LIVE,\u00a0on a Motown Revue special for\u00a0Britain’s Ready, Steady Go<\/a><\/strong>.
