Nine actresses would try to recreate Carole&#8217;s magic as the original lead in the Broadway musical &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hello,_Dolly!_(musical)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hello Dolly<\/a>&#8220;. None we&#8217;re better. On television, she appeared as an entertainer on variety shows, from\u00a0<i><a title=\"The Ed Sullivan Show\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Ed_Sullivan_Show\">The Ed Sullivan Show<\/a><\/i>\u00a0in the 1950s to\u00a0<i><a title=\"Hollywood Squares\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hollywood_Squares\">Hollywood Squares<\/a><\/i>. She had a standout performance as The White Queen in the TV production of\u00a0<i><a title=\"Alice in Wonderland (1985 film)\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alice_in_Wonderland_(1985_film)\">Alice in Wonderland<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(1985), and had the first of many TV specials in 1966,\u00a0<i>An Evening with Carol Channing<\/i>.&#8221; Here&#8217;s <strong>Louis Armstrong<\/strong>&#8216;s version of the title song, which displaced <strong>the Beatles<\/strong> at number one in 1964.
