Where was Shirley Jones<\/a>? She didn’t appear on the scene until the film<\/a> was made in 1962. The Broadway role was performed by Barbara Cook<\/a>\u00a0. It was Cook’s third appearance on the Great White Way, previously starring in\u00a0Plain and Fancy<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(1955),\u00a0Candide<\/a><\/i>\u00a0(1956).
