From all reports, our Annual Christmas Party was a success and we're pleased so many of you could join us.

Spot announcements were made starting November 24 offering free tickets for the WKNR sponsored Detroit Premiere of the new Walt Disney movie, "Jungle Book.1I The Royal Oak Theatre, where it was shown, holds 1500 and the Programming Department reports that the theatre was jammed. The Mayor and City Council of the City of Royal Oak were also in attendance.

The hack of the WKNR News Album this year will carry a message by Mayor Cavanaugh, written especially for this third annual presentation by Phil Nye and his boys. The album, "Detroit 1967," will be available about January 10.

Never let it be said that some KeeNeR personnel won't try anything. at least once. Now, it's the DJ's tackling the Harlem Globetrotters, December 30, at Olympia Stadium. Frank Maruca's memo 'inviting' the DJ's and Newsmen to participate mentioned that it was to be a "10-minute exhibition." I'll bet it will be~ It's for a good cause, however, and for their efforts, the station will receive a charity donation of $500.

Dick Purtan is going to do a benefit record hop at Dearborn High School January 12 for the Bill Valentine Fund. Mr. Valentine is a Dearborn teacher Who has become a victim of a kidney malfunction which can only be aided by the very expensive blood circulation machine designed specifically for this purpose.

Ted Clark's favorite female vocalist, Pati Clark, opens a two-week singing engagement at the 24 Karat Club, Telegraph and 6 Mile, January 2. His quote: "Come and bring money."

WKNR part-time employee Gary Kolasa is leaving for Freeport, Grand Bahama on Christmas Day for 10 days of sun, fun and surf. The trip is made up of college kids from all across the country. Gary worked full time this past summer, and now that he is attending Wayne State University, he works for us only on Sunday mornings.

WKNR will be on the air Christmas Eve 12 Midnight to 6 AM Christmas Day with a special program of Christmas music. Normally, KeeNeR is off the air from 12 Midnight Sunday to 5 AM Monday for transmitter maintenance. The same pattern will be followed for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Christmas Eve programming will include a show by the General Motors Choir at 10 PM followed by the St. Olaf's Choir at 10:30 PM and a one hour program of special Christmas music at 11 PM.
