Vol.2 No.22 May 29, 1968 Grace Potts, Editor
Did you know KeeNeR has a lending library? It's not too well known because
the quality of books does not represent the most intellectual reading
material, but if you're interested, contact Paul Cannon. Paul tells me that
his overdue daily fines are quite reasonable.
As most of you know by now, Gary Mitchell is leaving us June 5 to take a
position as DJ (with possible future responsibilities as Program Director)
at the Storer Station, WIBG, in Philadelphia. Good luck, Gary.
Anniversaries in June: Erik Smith, who started with us June 2, 1965, and
Frank Maruca who started June 15, 1961.
Don Wagner has made a couple of long distance week-end trips lately to
northern Michigan and parts of Ontario and can now talk with such authority
on that part of the country that he's being called "George Pierogi".
We've purposely positioned this next item on this sheet so that you'd read
all the items of interest before going into a state of complete ecstasy
because: did you know that Tiny Tim is coming to Edgewater on June 23 as a
WKNR presentation?!?
Barbara Loren, Federal Department Stores Teen coordinator, visited the
station Tuesday, May 28, with a representative of Teen Magazine. Their
purpose was to talk to our DJs and take pictures of them for insertion in
the August issue of Teen Magazine which will feature back-to-school
fashions.
Dearborn Rotary Club is sponsoring its ANTIQUES SHOW June 6,7,8 & 9 -
Dearborn Youth Center - Tickets $l.00. Door Prize '68 Mustang - It just
happens that Mr. Patterson is selling tickets. Need I SAY MORE?
Preview of Coming Attractions: In late July and August WKNR will be giving
away a KeeNeR Dream Car. It's a specially built vehicle on a Volkswagen
chassis with a modified Corvair engine. It will be raced at Motor City
Dragway, Detroit Dragway and Milan Dragway by a professional driver and on
special occasions will be driven by our DJs. We expect it to be delivered to
the station, probably the latter part of next week, for picture-taking.
We'll keep you posted on further details.
PROJECT DETROIT subject for Sunday, June 2, 1968 is "Only By Public
