"Getting Involved" would seem to be the theme of today's issue as you'll note when you read all the public service activities of KeeNeRites.

Sean Conrad, Frank Maruca and Ron Sherwood were Judges on Monday, September 29, at Sacred Heart grade school in Dearborn to determine the winners in the contest of traffic safety posters made by the youngsters in grades 1 through 8. Transistor radios and games, courtesy of WKNR, were awarded.

The annual ALSAC March took place Sunday and several of our own staff people participated. Ann Mitchell substituted for her daughter who had to work, and Paul Cannon's three oldest daughters and Phil Nye's two oldest daughters also marched in their neighborhoods. Gary Granger, on Sunday, September 21, MC'd a show at Eastern Michigan University put on by Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. While there he accepted a check in the amount of $2800 for ALSAC, $800 of which was raised by the students participating in a bike-a.-thon, the balance a lump sum individual contribution. The total amount raised in this year's drive was $180,000, and 20,000 teenagers marched, bringing the total amount raised through WKNR's sponsorship in the last six years to $805,000.

On Friday evening, September 26, Paul Cannon sold bags of peanuts in front of Hudson's Budget Store in Dearborn for the Kiwanis Club.

Judi Ponds received KeeNeR's 'treatment' on her birthday last Wednesday and, in spite of a very bad cold, got a big thrill out of 'taking the cake.

Jack Sitta left on Thursday afternoon on a goose shooting expedition in the Hudson Bay area of Canada, returning home Monday with another trophy for his office.

October anniversaries of KeeNeRites: Jerry Goodwin, October 7, 1968; Russ Betz, October 19, 1949; Harry Walker, October 19, 1959; and your editor, October 23, 1961.

Starting on Monday of this week, WKNR is giving 75 of ouz listeners the opportunity to win tickets to see the opening performance of "Holiday on Ice" at Cabo Hall on October 14. Winners will be chosen from those who mail in postcards between now and Sunday, October 6.

On September 14, Marty Bufalini took his 1926 Dodge to the Xavier Mission Convent and sold rides in it to help collect funds for their annual festival. Marty claims that the car withstood the onslaught of 104 riders. What was the "take", Marty?

Mark Allen has been invited by the United Foundation to participate in a documentary for television in connection with their annual fund raising activities. He and five other local DJ's will narrate case histories, on camera as well as doing 'voice-overs,', and these will be shown on Channels 2, 4 and 7 just prior to the kick-off.

PROJECT DETROIT Subject for Sunday, October 5, 1969 is "The War: Before and After." General Leonard Chapman, Jr., Commandant, U. S. Marine Corps, discusses Vietnam, how it's going and what we can expect.
