The Keener Almanac

(1958) WKBW-AM becomes an all-top 40 station. George 'Hound Dog' Lorenz left the station prior to the new format to start his own station, WBLK-FM.
(1970) American Top 40 debuts. Casey's first number one song is Mama Told Me Not To Come by 3 Dog Night.
(1972) WCBS-FM begins all-oldies format at 6 a.m. with Johnny Michaels aas the first dee-jay. Prior to oldies, it programmed an AOR-CHR-OLD mix.
(1884) George Trendle, producer of The Lone Ranger at WXYZ radio is born.
