The Keener Almanac

(1968) Crowds clog the Keener booth at the Detroit Auto Show where Jerry Martin has rigged up large TV monitors and a close circuit television link showing the WKNR jocks on the air in the studio.
(1931) Miles Laboratories introduces Alka Seltzer. Michigan State graduate and radio actor Dick Beals will portray Speedy, the Alka Seltzer spokesman.
(1955) Elvis Presley’s first RCA Victor release is announced. Mystery Train and I Forgot to Remember to Forget were purchased from Sam Phillips' Sun Records.
(1967) WKNR News reports the world’s first successful heart transplant is performed by Dr. Christiaan Barnard in Cape Town, South Africa.
