The Keener Almanac

(1955) Guy King aka Tom Clay conducts his famous Billboard stunt in Buffalo's Shelton Square on WWOL-AM.
(1961) Dan Ingram does his first show on WABC as a fill-in for Chuck Dunaway (he calls himself Not Chuck Dunaway.)
(1968) In the first test of the popularity of WKNR-FM's new underground format, WKNR beach towels are given away. Demand far outstrips supply with listeners calling from as far away as Cleveland.
(1969) Rolling Stone Brian Jones is found dead in his swimming pool. Two years later, to the day, Jim Morrison dies of a drug overdose in Paris.
(1966) On WJBK TV, Ed Sullivan's guests include Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello.
