The one time most notable college president in the country will likely be named the next president of the University of Michigan. Several sources are confirming that University of British Columbia president Santa Ono who has 27,000 followers on Twitter and always wears a bow tie will be tapped soon as Michigan’s first Asian-American president.

Tonight’s full moon will be the biggest and brightest super moon of 2022. The increased size and brightness occur because its orbit is closer to Earth than any other full moon this year.


“New-Found Glory” – TIME Magazine has named Detroit one of the World’s Greatest Places of 2022. The announcement highlights the success of the investments into the City and its residents made by public and private entities, which has helped Detroit secure recent honors like the 2024 NFL Draft, the best emerging startup ecosystem, and more.

If you’d like to encourage honesty in your child, practice what you preach.


Lea Michele has officially snagged her dream role. The actress has been cast as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl on Broadway, replacing Beanie Feldstein. She’ll join the musical beginning Sept. 6, with Tovah Feldshuh also taking over the role of Mrs. Brice from Jane Lynch.


According to WFLA TV, an unidentified Florida man has given away over $13,000 in one and five dollar bills along with inspirational notes at a Florida waffle house. Each note says “Love Every Body” in bold text. The man told anchor Keith Cate those were the last three words his mother said to him before she passed away.


The next time you mail through the United States Postal Service (USPS), it’s going to cost you extra. The postal rate hike, upping First-Class Mail prices by 6.5%, which took effect Sunday, is well below inflation, which is sitting at 8.6%. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy warned Americans to get used to “uncomfortable” postage rate increases as the Postal Service seeks to become self-sufficient.


Health officials have identified a sixth case of monkeypox in Michigan, this time on the state’s west side. Michigan’s handful of known cases since the spring have been found in Oakland County (3), Detroit (1) and now Kent County (1). Health officials have said the rash like virus has mild symptoms and is not likely to cause the same widespread infection as coronavirus. No large scale vaccination program is anticipated at this time.


Everybody hates self-check-out. According to a survey last year, 67% of 1,000 said they’d experienced a failure at the self-checkout lane. And yet, 36 years after it’s introduction, businesses are still installing self-checkout lanes as a cost-saving measure, even though they have lead to increases in shoplifting and customer dissatisfaction.

More proof to us baby boomers that we survive and thrive just about anything the world can throw at us.


Rolling Stone is reporting that three men, including a curator for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, have been charged with possessing a trove of stolen handwritten notes and lyrics by the Eagles’ co-founder Don Henley. Henley has been trying to recover the manuscripts for years after the documents were allegedly stolen in the 1970s by an unnamed biographer, who pawned them off to one of the three in 2005. The documents are estimated to be worth over $1 million dollars.
