Fall is in full swing in Detroit! This weekend, the Annual Detroit Harvest Fest and Food Truck Rally returns to the Detroit Riverfront. With over 50 food trucks, trick-or-treating alleys, a pumpkin patch, crafts, spooky science, and live music across four stages, it’s the perfect fall celebration. The event, held along the Dequindre Cut Greenway, was voted Detroit’s Best Food Truck Gathering by Metro Times readers. Admission is $8, free for kids under 3, seniors 65+, and military personnel. Open today 11am-8pm.

On this day 16 years ago…on Oct. 6, 2008, the Book-Cadillac Hotel was reborn as the Westin Book Cadillac. The once-proud landmark had stood abandoned since 1984 and many doubted that it would ever be revived.

More dangerous weather for the storm ravaged Florida Gulf Coast.
Tropical Storm Milton is currently located 845 miles southwest of Tampa, Florida, with sustained winds of 50 miles per hour. The storm is moving east at 5 miles per hour and is expected to strengthen into a hurricane by tonight. The storm could bring 5 to 8 inches of rain to an already waterlogged Florida, with localized totals up to 12 inches, increasing the risk of flooding. Life-threatening rip currents are also expected along the Gulf Coast early next week.
